The long-running NYC improvising collective NNCK opens ISSUE Project Room's fall season at a historic Brooklyn church.
No-Neck Blues Band has operated on the edges of New York's experimental underground since 1993, building a practice around collective improvisation and a studied resistance to easy categorization — or easy identification, for that matter. The group returns to ISSUE Project Room alongside founding member Keith Connolly for the opening night of the fall season, held at First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn. The church setting suits them: spacious, unhurried, conducive to the kind of slow-burn group listening NNCK does best.
